The Apple App store just got a bit more interesting thanks to the introduction of a real money casino game application.
Viaden Gaming, a well-known developer of remote online casino software, introduced the app Real Casino for iOS devices. It features 14 casino games that can be played for real money or which can be played for free.
Currently, Real Casino is the only app in the AppStore that allows play on more than one game.

There used to be a problem gambling campaign here in Australia with the slogan, when its no longer fun, walk away.
I had one of those days today.
Serious addiction issues? Not really, no.
Serious connection issues? Absolutely, yes.
I was playing at my local coffee shop, where the Long Macchiatos are outstanding, but the wi-fi connection is a little sketchy at times. T

British Media made the announcement recently that the Government was looking at policy regarding offshore casinos and how they are taxed and licensed. Currently, offshore casinos receive an unfair business advantage in not having to pay taxes that land based casinos in the UK are subjected to. To even the playing field, offshore casinos are being looked at in policy changes that could generate revenue for the UK by taxing the businesses equally. Major UK gaming operations have moved offshore to receive what is essentially a 15% tax break as opposed to staying in an environment that puts them at a disadvantage to offshore operations.
William Hill is one of those major operations that decided smartly to move offshore and this may have spurred the recent calls for policy changes. The minister for tourism and heritage of the DCMS made the announcement that the legislation was being looked at by parliament. Basically, the online operators are now responsible for a second license if they want to promote to UK players. The license comes with a fee. Along with the new license is a tax on betting that is being introduced.
The chief executive of the Remote Gaming Association is in agreement with the legislation as it promotes a level playing field for business, achieves revenue for the Government and protects UK players. Most gaming that takes place within the United Kingdom takes place in offshore operations, so while the taxation may initially cause problems for smaller offshore gambling operations, most will average out and create a more fair business environment where most can prosper while not at the expense of the Government.
This new legislation, which is technically really all about taxation, may not be welcomed by the small offshore gambling operations as it could mean having to take a hit in revenue or not servicing UK players, but mid-range companies should see it as an impressive new advantage over old competition and stepping up a rung to play against the bigger casinos.
What does this mean for players? Eventually it could mean that operations under the new tax could either move away from a UK presence or encourage paying more for gambling. Ultimately, successful gambling operations may take a slight dip, but it should balance out for them in only a few short years. Overall, there has been a positive response from the gaming community as the initiative will open up more opportunities than it will close.

Back in September last year the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled that Germanys State Gambling Treaty was protectionist in nature and inconsistent with European law.
In April this year the German government put forward a new draft Treaty that they hoped could be adopted by all 16 German Länder (states).
